The idea of establishing the Society emerged in the early 1970s when Dr. Hashim Abdel Hadi became acquainted with the *Al-Bir Society* in Nablus, which provided loans to underprivileged university students. He admired the concept and shared it with some friends in Jenin. Around the same time, a high school student from Jenin with special needs approached Dr. Abdel Hadi, seeking financial assistance to pursue his university education. Despite his high grades in the *Tawjihi* exam, his financial situation posed a significant obstacle. Dr. Abdel Hadi presented the student's case to a group of his well-off friends and acquaintances, including Dr. Khalil Touqan (currently the Society's president), Mrs. Adalat Motie Al-Asir Touqan, Mrs. Najia Anis Al-Nafa’, Mr. Nazmi Anis Al-Nafa’, Mr. Ghaleb Mohammad Khalaf, Mr. Ihsan Amin Al-Taher, Mr. Rateb Faris Al-Yamouni, Mr. Ibrahim Qasem, and Mrs. Siham Al-Lahham. They collectively agreed to personally support the student’s education financially.
